- INSPECT AND ADVISE:
- FOUND: THE LEFT FRONT BACKING PLATE IS BENT AND RUBBING ON THE BRAKE ROTOR.
- PERFORM NECESSARY DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FOR CONFIRMATION AND ADVISE:
- FOUND: I inspected the vehicle and verified the client's concern that the check engine light is illuminated and there is no significant drivabilty issue present. Customer States the check engine light has been intermittently illuminated with a store trouble code P0420. Performed health check of vehicle and found DTC code P0420 Catalyst Bank 1 efficiency below threshold and p0430 Catalyst bank 2 efficiency below threshold. We recommend replacement of both bank 1 & 2 catalytic converters and oxygen sensors.
- DISASSEMBLE, REPLACE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD / CATALYTIC CONVERTER ASSEMBLY (FIREWALL SIDE / BANK ONE), REASSEMBLE WITH NEW GASKETS.
- REPLACE THE AIR INTAKE HOSE AND AIR FILTER
- INSPECT, CONFIRM AND ADVISE:
- Roadtest, inspect the integrity of the steering and suspension components, inspect the front and rear tires, inspect for excessive "play" in the wheel bearings and other related components, and advise: There is noise from the suspension or steering. Upon test drive found popping and rattle type noise coming from front suspension, inspected underneath vehicle and found drivers front strut assembly to be loose and shaking very badly. Recommend retorque front suspension components + wheel alignment.
- DISASSEMBLE, STRAIGHTEN THE BACKING PLATE AS REQUIRED AND RETORQUE THE FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS.
- DISASSEMBLE, REMOVE BOTH INNER TIE ROD ENDS, TAP AND CHASE THE STEERING RACK THREADS AS REQUIRED, REINSTALL THE INNER TIE ROD ENDS, MAKE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS.
- Inspect and make required adjustments to set "toe", "caster", and "camber" to factory specifications on the front and rear suspension (where applicable). Alignment warranty requires tire rotations and checking tire pressure in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
