    • INSPECT AND ADVISE: I test drove the vehicle approx 9 miles and confirmed the customer's concern, that there is a shutter symptom when accelerating between 50-70 mph. There are no stored trouble codes in any of the modules at this time. GM has issued a TSB (technical service bulletin) for the customer described symptom. TSB # 19-NA-018 Shake and/or shuddering during light throttle acceleration between 40 and 80 mph. The TSB states to perform an ATF triple drain and fill procedure. GM also states that it could take 200 miles for TCC shudder to be eliminated. At this time we suggest to perform an ATF fluid exchange procedure and for the customer to monitor the condition. If the shudder symptom does not improve, replacement of the A/T assembly will be required.
    • I performed a transmission fluid pan removal, cleaned the pan and magnets, reinstalled pan and filled with fresh fluid. This procedure was performed three times with a new fluid pan gasket installed on the 3rd and final pan installation. I test drove the vehicle approximately 15 miles with no further faults or symptoms. NOTE; GM service bulletin states it may take up to 200 miles for the shudder condition to be eliminated. Rec monitor the condition.

    • FOUND: The undercarriage is saturated with engine oil. At this time, using a solvent we cleaned the undercarriage and engine as best possible. We then performed a test drive of approximately 5 miles. Rechecking for oil leaks, we found that the timing cover gasket is leaking oil. Upon arrival the coolant level is low. There is evidence of a major coolant leak being present. At this time we performed a cooling system pressure test and found multiple coolant leak locations present. The expansion tank hose is leaking. One of the throttle body quick-connect fittings is leaking coolant, this is a steady drip leak. The water pump also has signs of minor coolant seepage. Coolant leak Rec replace water pump assembly (seeping) Rec replace expansion tank hose (leaking) Rec replace throttle body coolant hoses (2×) (leaking at the quick connect fitting at the throttle body) Oil leak Rec replace front timing cover gasket (seeping) Rec contiune fluid leak inspection after repairs. Due to the age and mileage of the vehicle the possibility of additional leaks being present exists.
