- FOUND:
- REPLACE THE ENGINE AIR FILTER
- INSPECT AND ADVISE: I inspected the vehicle and verified the client's concern that there is a rattle noise present upon cold startup. I isolated the noise to the timing chain components. I suspect the intake variable valve timing phaser has failed and no longer locks in the retarded position for engine startup. Recommend removing the valve cover, confirming the phaser has failed, performing necessary repairs and verifying there are no additional faults.
- * UPON DISASSEMBLY, WE FOUND THAT THE TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED TO THE MAXIMUM LIMIT AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.
- Inspect and make required adjustments to set "toe", "caster", and "camber" to factory specifications on the front and rear suspension (where applicable). Alignment warranty requires tire rotations and checking tire pressure in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
- Clean the throttle body and butterfly valve, clean the mass air flow sensor, induce a cleaner to service the intake valves, intake plenum, combustion chamber, piston tops, + add a concentrated cleaner to the fuel tank. Take advantage of these cleaning chemicals by filling your fuel tank right away!
