    • DROP OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WITH AN OIL PRESSURE CODE.
    • FOUND: I inspected the vehicle and verified the client's concern that the check engine light is illuminated and there is an oil pressure control solenoid fault code present. I performed necessary diagnostic testing and found the two-stage oil pump pressure does not change when commanded. I inspected the exposed portions of the wiring harness for potential faults and found and no indication of a fault. I performed an ohms check on the solenoid circuit and found the solenoid circuit is open which is an indication of a failure with the oil control solenoid mounted in the oil pump. Replacement of the oil pump assembly will be required. Recommend replacing the oil pump assembly. Recommend changing the engine oil and filter.

    • PERFORM NECESSARY DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND ADVISE:
    • FOUND: I inspected the vehicle and found code P0506 present for an unstable idle condition. I performed necessary diagnostic testing related to the idle stability issue and found the throttle body is dirty and is out of self calibration specification. Recommend performing a fuel system induction service. Code P0014 is present for incorrect valve timing. During the inspection I found the camshaft adjuster solenoid is leaking oil. I recommend replacing the camshaft adjuster solenoid, clearing the code and test driving the vehicle to verify the timing actuator located at the end of the camshaft operates as designed.
