    • PERFORM NECESSARY DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND ADVISE:
    • FOUND: I inspected the vehicle and verified the client's concern that the check engine light is illuminated. I found there is an extended crank symptom present and a significant lack of power above 3,800 rpm. I retrieved diagnostic trouble code P0340 which indicates there is no signal present from the intake camshaft position sensor. I performed necessary diagnostic testing and found there is substantial damage to the powertrain wiring harness due to varmints. Recommend partially removing the wiring harness in order to facilitate repair, perform repairs, reinstall the vehicle harness, clear the codes and test drive to verify there are no additional faults.
    • I inspected the door lock operation and verified the clients concern that the doors do not lock. I verified the fault is present during key fob use and power door lock button operation. I found there are no trouble codes stored in the body control module. During testing I found there is a door jar signal present at the body control module which is prohibiting the door locks from locking. I continued the inspection on the door lock system wiring and found there is damage to the body control module harness from varmints. Recommend partially removing the body control module harness, performing necessary repairs, reinstalling and reinitializing the power door lock system.

    • INSPECT AND ADVISE: I inspected the vehicle and verified the client's concern that there is a rattle noise present upon cold startup. I isolated the noise to the timing chain components. I suspect the intake variable valve timing phaser has failed and no longer locks in the retarded position for engine startup. Recommend removing the valve cover, confirming the phaser has failed, performing necessary repairs and verifying there are no additional faults.
    • * UPON DISASSEMBLY, WE FOUND THAT THE TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED TO THE MAXIMUM LIMIT AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.
    • Inspect and make required adjustments to set "toe", "caster", and "camber" to factory specifications on the front and rear suspension (where applicable). Alignment warranty requires tire rotations and checking tire pressure in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.

    • THE CUSTOMER STATES THE VENTS ONLY BLOW ON THE DEFROST MODE. INSPECT AND ADVISE ON NEEDED REPAIR.
    • FOUND: I inspected the vehicle and verified the client's concern that the HVAC system does not direct air as anticipated. I inspected the mode door operation and found the mode door motor fails to properly operate. Code b1239 is present in HVAC module and indicates there's a short with the mode control motor circuit. I inspected the exposed portions of the wiring and found no indication of a fault. Replacement of the mode door motor will be required. Recommend replacing the mode door actuator, clearing the code and reevaluating the system for additional potential faults. I inspected the HVAC system and confirmed the client's concern that the outlet temperature is warmer than anticipated when set to the max cold setting. I recovered the refrigerant from the system and found the refrigerant level is low. I recharged the system with the proper amount of refrigerant and continued the inspection. I found the HVAC compressor fails to engage. I checked the circuit for power and found there is no power available at the compressor. I checked the fuse for the compressor and found the fuse is good. Diagnostic testing will be required on the HVAC compressor circuit. Recommend performing electrical testing on the HVAC compressor circuit.
